Today sees the launch of Jack's new book "Thanks for Nothing".

Described by Jack in typical style as sort of autobiographical, it charts the first 25 years of Jack's life up until the moment he started in stand up. The hardback copy of the book is currently available at amazon.co.uk at a great discounted price of £10.

We were going to tell you about all of the areas of the book which Thanks for Nothing covers, however on reflection we think it's probably better if Jack tells you about it himself!

Click here to view the embedded video.

Click here to view the embedded video.

The book itself is a great read, we read it from cover to cover in just one sitting. It is a mix of the autobioraphical, charting the influences and experiences on Jack which lead him to his role as a stand up and ultimately his grumpy old man demeanour, and his thoughts on the world today. So we get Jack's humourous views on a number of diferent areas of life ranging from personal trainers to the "overrated moon landing".

Overall we would highly recommend Thanks for Nothing to every Jack Dee fan.

Great news for all of us Jack Dee fans with the announcement that Jack is to host the next series of the BBC Radio 4 show I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue.

Following the sad death of Humphrey Lyttelton last year, Jack, Stephen Fry and Rob Brydon had originally shared the hosting duties. However, for the new series of the long running radio show, which returns on 16 November 2009, Jack will return as the sole host.

The appointment is temporary at this stage with no news yet as to who would be the new permanent host. Originally following Humphrey's death it was unclear if the show would even continue. However, Radio 4 controller Mark Damazer has since stated that amongst the deluge of sympathy wishes for Humphrey there was a of correspondance asking for the show to return.

We wish Jack well in his new role.

Jack Dee was busy over the Christmas season, not only did he have a one off special of Lead Balloon on the TV but he also starred as a team captain on Vic Reeve and Bob Mortimer's Shooting Stars.

Jack replaced the previous team captain Will Self and his team (Team A) which included Kate Garraway from GMTV and the Dizzee Rascal, the rapper and music producer, took on Ulrika Jonsson's team which included Peter Jones from Dragon's Den and Christine Walkden who provides gardening advice on the One Show.

The one off Christmas special followed the usual madcap antics of previous series of Shooting Fish including slurs against Ulrika due to her well documented love life, Vic Reeves leeching onto the most attractive femail guest (Kate Garraway) and bizarre question such as True or False, Bill Cosby was the first ever black man. Of course this is false and the correct answer was Sidney Poitier!

The episode also included one hilarous scene where Jack Dee found himself with a dead bluetit on his head while a male opera singer sang into his face from about a foot away! You can watch the clip here

Twitter has been gaining a lot of attraction in the media at the start of 2009, and while it has been about for a while, it looks like 2009 could be the year when Twitter really hits the mainstream.

A few celebrities have joined the Twitter craze, while a few have had their names hijacked by other people pretending to be them. To help catch the fakers, Jonathan Ross has appointed himself the Number One Twitter Detective and has set about debunking the fakes. Jonathan also updates his own very funny Twitter account which can be followed here (@Wossy)

This week Jonathan confirmed that the Jack Dee on twitter is a fake and the profile was swiftly pulled by whoever was using it.

Here is a picture Jonathan Ross posted to prove he really is Wossy on twitter

Here hoping that now the fake has been unmasked that Jack Dee does decide to start twittering himself. Jonathan is also currently pestering Jeremy Clarkson and Russell Brand to join up.

Here are a few UK based celebrities that currently have Twitter accounts to the best of our knowledge. If you know of any others please drop us an email with the details. We will try and keep this list as up to date as possible as time goes on

Great news for fans of Jack Dee today, not only is a new episode of Lead Balloon on the screens tonight, but Jack is also a guest on the afternoon chat show Loose Women. In addition to Jack Dee, John Barrowman also guests and Emma Bunton is a guest panelist. Loose Women airs on ITV at 12.30pm today.

Tonights episode of Lead Balloon has Rick Spleen suffering a near death experience when a falling lamp narrowly misses his head. The result is Rick starting to appreciate all the simple things in life, like birdsong at 6am, much to his wife's annoyance!

Jack Dee has been included in the nation's top ten favourite comedians in a poll carried out for the bank Smile. The poll was won by Peter Kay, who was a clear favourite with an oustanding 63% of the public's vote. The full list of the nation's favourite comedians was as follows:

1. Peter Kay
2. Lee Evans
3. Alan Carr
4. Catherine Tate
5. Dawn French
6. Rowan Atkinson
7. Al Murray
8. Jack Dee
9. Eddie Izzard
10. Frankie Boyle

Following his recent suspension from the BBC there was further bad news for Jonathan Ross who placed second in the list of the nation's least favourite comedians. The winner in this category was Jo Brand which we must admit came as somewhat of a surprise. The list of the nation's least favourite comedians were:

1. Jo Brand
2. Jonathan Ross
3. Victoria Wood
4. Ricky Gervais
5. Harry Hill
6. Jimmy Carr
7. Paul Merton
8. Russell Brand
9. Spike Milligan
10. Alan Bennett

The same poll also found Only Fools and Horses to be the nation's favourite comedy show followed by Fawlty Towers, Blackadder and Red Dwarf in that order. We have have no doubt that it will not be long before Lead Balloon is joining this distinguished list.
